Camp Jobs

Being able to have fun is on the list of job requirements There is a variety of roles and responsibilities at Camp. All of them very demanding, exhausting but very fulfilling. We cannot run Camp without you! We can't take the numbers and we can't keep the kids safe and happy if we don't fill the staff places.

You will be in contact with the campers everyday, almost every hour of everyday and that is draining for anybody, but there are also times for relaxing and recuperating. No one job is more important than another - we all play our part and all pull our weight. If the directors don't organise, there will be no camp and no organisation, if the tutors don't tutor there'd be no activities, Counsellors don't organise, schedule would be compromised and accidents would abound, DB's didn't do what they do - nothing would be prepared.

What can you bring to the team?

Male Counsellors

Male Counsellors are responsible for the 2 Male Cabins. Usually 8 boys in each. The male cabins are well known for tight friendships and desire to win cabin challenges and camp competitions. Traditionally they have enjoyed a regular and loyal camper following - lads returning year on year.

Counsellors need to get the campers up in the morning, ensure they are ready for day ahead with appropriate clothing etc. and chaperone activities throughout the day. Counsellors are responsible for encouraging, enthusing and empowering all campers in order that they will seize every opportunity afforded them. They should also come prepared with ideas for Big Bash, Campfire calls and Lads night out.

You must be 19 to be a Counsellor.

Female Counsellors

Female Counsellors are responsible for the 2 Female Cabins. Usually 8 girls in each. The female cabins are much less active than the guys but have a great desire to talk and gab. The girls are traditionally very good at doing the outdoor activities so female counsellors should be prepared to get into any outdoor activity.

Dogs Bodies

How do you describe this job? Well, if it needs done then it's the dogs bodies that do it. If it needs cleaned, set out, set up, prepared, then the dogs bodies are one step ahead of the programme. We have had a great run of DB's all of whom have gone on to be Counsellors or tutors in their own right. This job is definitely a stepping stone for folk who are keen to become Counsellors in the future.

You need to be 18 to be DB.

We started with one but after physically wrecking them for a few years we had two and wow what a difference a great couple of DB's can make...

What will you add to the DB history?
