Alliance Youth Works
The team at Annagh have been clearing Laurel for what seems like an age, but eventually the log stores are full and there is very little Laurel left on the site. The old tennis courts are now cleared and tall, lush grass and wildflowers have replaced the Laurel, bramble combo. The new lane was completed, fenced and a native Irish hedge was planted and is thriving (now that the sheep have gone!).
But the most exciting project here is the Boardwalk and birdhide that leaves the end of the new lane and stretches out into the bog giving the team the opportunity to study the huge variety of bog species and the Spotted Flycatchers, Willow Warbler and Reed Bunting living there.
