Let's Grow Wild

Bluebell Wood

Planting bluebell bulbs
The EDEN Opps team at Benburb have cleared an area of woodland within the Benburb Valley Park. They removed dead conifers, sycamore and laurel and the detritus and general litter left around the site. Alongside a number of community days the team planted over 6000 bulbs of bluebell, snowdrop, wild garlic, winter aconite and wood anemone.

And AYW with the Benburb Community Association ran information days where up to forty people gathered for woodland walks and work days, planting trees and wildflower seeds.

The last community day involved the group foraging for woodland treats and making nettle soup and garlic pesto. Soooo much fun.
